About the role
Our client, in the Dover area, is seeking an International Transport Manager to join their busy team.
You will receive a competitive salary of £50/55,000+ per annum (depending upon experience).
Reporting to the Head of International Operations, key responsibilities include:
- Managing the Full Truck Load (FTL) Fleet Department (consisting of 100+ trucks of 3rd party traction hauliers ) and the Groupage Department, ensuring that the DVI operational processes, procedures and company policies are adhered to
- Continuously assess staff performance and provide coaching and guidance to ensure maximum efficiency and high level of service, consistent with customer expectation, throughout the UK and Europe
- Profit & Loss responsibility for both departments
- Commercial awareness of European Export and Import pricing to complete UK customer and Group tenders.
- Provide ad hoc pricing based on Fleet costings or using Groupage tariffs for smaller shipments
- Management and monitoring of Fleet performance, providing weekly reports to Planners and Senior Management
We would love to hear from you if you can offer the following:
- Minimum of 3 years Transport Management / Senior Planner experience of 3rd party traction operations on full loads, and also part load movements throughout the UK (and EU would be desirable)
- International Planning experience, with particular focus on own fleet/3rd party traction operations
- Able to communicate in another European language is desirable, but not essential
- Able to compile and collate data
- IT literate in Microsoft Office packages
- Experience of leading a team &/or working towards a Level 3 Management or equivalent qualification
- Solution-oriented
- Able to understand the complexities of planning +100 vehicles throughout Europe
- Able to remain calm under pressure and able to deal with difficult customer conversations/or internal stakeholder demands
40 hour week - 8.30am to 5.30pm, with an hour for lunch.
